Construction is never easy. So much planning, managing, and budgeting goes on that sometimes little details get misplaced, forgotten, or ignored. In the case of these 15 places, the design team might have forgotten one or two of those little details.

Planet Earth is filled with billions of creatures. Some cute, some nice, some strange looking, and some deadly. Some of these animals kill hundreds of people every year. Others have powerful venom that can kill within a few hours. Still others have such a painful sting/bite that you may wish that you were dead. Here are 6 of the most poisonous animals in the world (in no particular order).

1.) Poison Dart Frog

This little guy may be cute, but he’s a killer. At only 2 inches long, poison dart frogs are among the most poisonous species on Earth. In fact, one particular species, the Golden Poison Dart Frog, is considered to be the most poisonous vertebrae in the world. The frog secretes their poison, which makes them have a slimy look. One frog can produce enough poison to kill 10-20 human adults or 20,000 mice. Only 2 micrograms of dart frog poison is needed to kill a person. Amerindians would use this poison collected from the frog and poison the tips of their darts and arrow. This is how the species got their name.

2.) Blue-Ring Octopus

The beautiful blue-ring octopus is best looked upon from a distance. The three species of blue-ringed octopus live in the Pacific Ocean and feast on crab and shrimp. The golf ball sized octopus carries enough venom to kill 26 human adults within minutes. There is also no antivenom for blue-ringed octopus bites. They are deadly because their bites are harmless and victims rarely feel it until it is too late. The respiratory system is disabled within minutes and the body becomes completely paralyzed. Just imagine being unable to call for help as you can’t breathe. This makes the Blue-Ringed Octopus one of the most venomous animals in the world.

3.) Stonefish

The stonefish may never win a beauty contest, but it is officially the world’s most venomous fish. The stonefish usually roams the tropical waters of the Pacific and Indian Oceans. The Stonefish keeps it venom in its spiky dorsal fins that stick up whenever the creature feels threatened. Many divers end up getting those fins stuck on their feet because they couldn’t recognize the fish and stepped on them. The venom injected by the Stonefish is so painful that some victims have requested that the afflicted area be amputated immediately. It has been called the worst pain in the world. The venom causes shock, paralysis, tissue death and it can be fatal if not treated right away. The best way to treat the sting is by pouring water that is over 113°F on the affected area.

4.) Inland Taipan

Forget rattlesnakes. Forget cobras. Forget vipers. The Inland Taipan is the most venomous land snake in the world and resides in Australia. The average injection of venom from the Inland Taipan contains 44 mg. The maximum amount ever taken from a taipan was 110 mg. While 44 mg may not seem much, take into account that the median amount needed for a fatality is 0.03 mg. It only takes 45 minutes for death to occur. However, the Inland Taipan is a naturally shy animal, and will only bite if threatened, preferring to escape without confrontation. There have been no known fatalities from an Inland Taipan bite, and all bites have been on herpetologists handling the snakes and were treated with antivenom.

5.) Box Jellyfish

The Box Jellyfish is considered by some to be the most dangerous animal in the world. It has been responsible for over 5,500 deaths since the mid-1850s. Each tentacle on the creature has thousands of needles that inject venom. The venom completely shuts down the body, attacking the heart and nervous system. Some victims are unable to even reach the shore before the body starts shutting down. The pain from the sting can last for weeks sometimes in the most serious of cases.

6.) Brazilian Wandering Spider

The Brazilian Wandering Spider is the most venomous spider in the world. It can have a leg span of up to 4-5 inches and a length of almost 2 inches. What makes the Brazilian Wandering Spider so dangerous is that, true to its name, it wanders around in highly populated areas. It prefers dark areas, so closets, corners, attics and other areas are ideal for it. The amount of venom needed to kill a mouse is 6 micrograms, while the amount needed for a Black Widow to do the same is 110 micrograms. Another side effect of a Wandering Spider bite is priapism. What’s priapism? It causes erections that can last for hours and can eventually lead to impotence.

Dinosaurs have been a fascination of children and adults alike for generations. Dinosaurs surged in popularity following the film Jurassic Parkand its sequels. It’s just a damn shame that they went extinct 65 million years ago. If they had survived to this day, there would certainly be some that would be kept as pets. Which ones? Here are 3 that we wish we had as pets.

1.) Tyrannosaurus Rex

Fetch boy!

Who wouldn’t want their own Tyrannosaurus Rex? Just imagine taking it for a walk. How awesome would that be? It would become a bigger craze that having chihuahuas in woman’s purses. No one would ever go in your backyard or in your house to steal your stuff ever again. You could also enter you new pal in T-Rex shows, showing off its ability to eat multiple creatures in a single bite and jump through hoops. T-Rex also makes a great fetching partner.

2.) Compsognathus

Compsognathus, also known as “Compys,” were one of the smallest dinosaurs to roam the Earth. They were about 3 feet long and weighed no heavier than 6 or 7 pounds. You could carry them around in your purse if you really wanted (instead of Chihuahuas). There is no doubt that men would use these little guys to pick up women, similar to how they use babies. Since Compys ate lizards, outdoor and household pests would be eliminated. Compys would just be cool to have. It’d be almost like having a pocket T-Rex.

3.) Microraptor

Microraptors are even smaller than Compys. They had feathers and almost resembled birds. Just think about it – your very own passenger pigeon, but hell of a lot cooler. Listen to this conversation.

Timmy: “Hey guys, I got a cool new pet.”
Billy: “Oh wow, did your parents finally let you get a puppy?”
Timmy: “Nope, even better than that!”
Johnny: “A ferret?”
Timmy: “No, even better than that.”
Billy: “Just tell us already!”
Timmy: “Fine. I got a fucking microraptor!”
Billy & Johnny: “WOW!”

If that doesn’t make you want one, I don’t know what will.

Our planet is home to many different forms of life, from plants to animals to bacteria. However, human beings have been the only species to fully manipulate and control their environment. Lurking in the shadows, though, are five species that are looking to take over man’s place as the top species. These “fearsome five” all have the capabilities to take over the world. If you ever have that feeling that you are being watched, it’s because one of these species is doing surveillance on you.

1.) Cats
Method of Domination: Mind Control

I may look cute, but it's part of the plan..

In case it wasn’t already obvious, a University of Sussex study revealed that cats have the ability to control humans. They control us by emitting a high-pitched meow, which annoys us and makes us pay attention to them and feed them. For those who do have cats, they are all too familiar with their cat’s ability to interfere in “human” affairs. Imagine if every single cat in the world did this high-pitched meow at once. Millions of people would immediately be under the control of the felines. While they wouldn’t be able to get rid of us, they could control our governments, economy and culture and if we get out of line, they will be happy to scratch or bite us. Fear the kittehs.

2.) Argentine Ants
Method of Domination: Sheer Numbers

Resistance is futile!

You might be thinking, how will puny little ants take over the world? They are no threat to me! Think again. Argentine ants have spread to six continents throughout the world (the exception being Antarctica). They are an extremely invasive species, and take over other ant species’ nests living in the area. Their nest is so large that scientists have called them “supercolonies.” One supercolony, in Europe, spans over 3,700 miles alone! They can easily outnumber us humans 40-1 if they so choose. Unlike most ants though, if you mingle two Argentine ants from different parts of the world together, they will be BFF’s and act like nothing strange is going on, so mixing them up won’t help. We can only hope that there will be a magnifying glass large enough to cover their supercolonies. We can’t nuke them either – they’d probably survive.

3.) Chimpanzees
Method of Domination: Intelligence and Strength

The future

Chimpanzees are man’s closest living relative but have a reputation for being aggressive, even going as far as attacking people. In fact, chimps are so dangerous that the U.S. House of Representatives has approved a ban of primate pets. This will allow the chimps time to plan. They can use tools and sign language, and can be cannibalistic at times and if they were to get the support of gorillas and other great apes, then the human race will be in trouble. In hand-to-hand combat, it would be difficult to overpower a gorilla (unless you have training). If they can use tools, they can certainly use a gun. It might be an Ape Civil War on our hands.

4.) Jellyfish
Method of Domination: Immortality

Usually when a jellyfish mates, it dies. It’s the circle of life, a natural occurrence. One jellyfish sticks it middle tentacle up at the circle of life. When Turritopsis Nutricula mate, they don’t die. Instead, they revert back to their juvenile form and repeat the process to achieve a form of biological immortality.

The Smithsonian Tropical Marine Institute has even said “We are looking at a worldwide silent invasion.”

Even if they never attacked human civilizations directly, they can just wait until we wipe ourselves out. The only way to destroy this jellyfish is remove its nerve center. Who is going to volunteer to do that?

5.) Dolphins
Method of Domination: Sheer numbers, intelligence, and a thirst for human flesh

I want you to watch this video, but replace the words “sardine” with “human flesh.”

Once dolphins gain the ability to go on land, we will be destroyed.

5 ways to exploit the Moon in light of the recent discovery of water on its surface.

In case you were too busy actually living your life for the past week or so, NASA crashed a rocket into the Moon. Why? To find out if there was water there. Well, they did find water – a good amount of it. This is a finding that could have huge implications for the future of space exploration and big business. Big business? Yes. If water is on the Moon, then colonization will soon follow. Colonization = People with incomes. How can we get in before competitors and exploit the moon for profit once colonization begins? Read on to find out.

1.) Create a Tourist Trap

Setting up a tourist trap on the Moon could be extremely profitable. They are already in the process of giving spaceflights, so it stands to reason that setting up a tourist trap on the Moon will be their first stop during their travels. Just think of all the trinkets you can sell – t-shirts with slogans like “I Mooned you!” and “Moon 2012″, Hot-Wheels sized Apollo rovers (for the kids), and mugs and keychains with people’s names on them. There would be plenty of photo opportunities too. A photo next to the US flag on the Moon would be a great spot. The postcards would be nifty too.

Yes, that's me

2.) Moon Water Bottles

Water bottles are everywhere and they all come from some unknown freshwater spring that only water bottle companies seem to know its location. If there is water on the Moon, why not bottle it and sell it? People on Earth would clamor to get a taste of the freshest and purest water the Moon has to offer.

3.) Solar Farms

If you’re the investing type, invest in solar panels – thousands of them. The next step involves putting all those solar panels on the Moon to collect and harvest all that sunlight and then either sell it to local lunar communities or back to Earth for a tidy sum. You could become the next power company and not even know it yet.

4.) Hold Weddings and Events

If someone is looking for acres of space to hold an event or wedding, the Moon is the place. There’s plenty of land. With water around, people could gather together in a celebration. The pictures would be scenic with Earth in the background. Las Vegas is known for having Elvis at weddings marrying people who don’t know any better. The Moon would become famous for having astronauts marry drunk people instead of Elvis.

5.) Sell land

The real estate market as a whole is down, so why bother wasting your time here on Earth selling it? Why not try to sell land on the Moon. Prime real estate is available, including craters. You would be surprised how many people would be interested in buying a piece of the moon.

Here at The Blogington, I feel as if there’s not enough articles about travel and since winter is approaching (in the Northern Hemisphere) and temperatures are plummeting, there’s no better time to introduce the 5 hottest places on earth. If you’re in the winter spirit, please read the 5 Coldest Places on Earth. We’ll start with “coldest” place and warm up from there. Bring your sunblock!

5.) Timbuktu, Mali – Highest Temperature: 130.1°F (54.5°C)

Timbuktu is one of the most famous places in Africa. The city was historically a trading outpost that connected many people from all over the known world. It’s also a themed area at the Busch Gardens theme park. Living here is rough, as the temperature only goes down, on average, to 55°F in the winter months! Despite the extreme heat, Timbuktu is not even the hottest place in Africa.

4.) Kebili, Tunisia – Highest Temperature: 131°F (55°C)

Slightly hotter than Timbuktu, Kebili is actually an Oasis in the harsh African deserts. The city was once under control of the famed Roman Empire. Kebili actually ties with the next place for highest temperature ever recorded. What’s there to do in Kebili? Well you can harvest dates. Kebili is known for having some of the best quality dates in the world. So while you get your tan in Kebili, go and grab a date or two to replenish your body fluids before you pass out, please.

3.) Ghadames, Libya – Highest Temperature: 131°F (55°C)

Sweating yet? Ghadames is another oasis in the middle of nowhere. The city’s houses resemble those seen on Tatooine in Star Wars. The city has been around since the 6th century, when Christianity was the dominant religion in town. In order to avoid the brutal heat and to avoid sand monsters, the people build their houses out of lime, palm tree trunks, and mud. This is supposed to help with the heat and cool off the interior. Ghadames also holds the distinction of being of UNESCO Heritage Site, an honor it shares with Timbuktu.

2.) Death Valley, California – Highest Temperature: 134°F (56.7°C)

An empty place with a scary name. Death Valley is the hottest, driest and lowest elevated place in North America. Sounds great, right? There’s not much across Death Valley. There is a National Park that is home to many exotic species like the roadrunner. If you think you can handle the heat, it’s not only the thing you have to contend with. At night, Death Valley can easily go below freezing. Besides, who wants to live at a place called Death Valley. Not appealing for block parties.

1.) Al’Aziziyah, Libya – Highest Temperature: 136°F (57.7°C)

Al’Aziziyah is hot. Very hot. It has the record for having the highest recorded temperature ever on September 13, 1922. If you want to get a quick tan, or lose a couple pounds quickly, this is your place. Just think, you wouldn’t need any kitchen items. You can just go and put some eggs on the sidewalk, and cook them there. You could also start a solar energy company there too, if you didn’t get heat stroke first. Despite the temperatures, over 300,000 call Al’Aziziyah home. Bring your sunglasses.

Are you feeling the heat wave sweeping across the nation this summer? Are you tired of having to endure temperatures of over 100+ degrees Fahrenheit? Well, today is your lucky day! There are plenty of places around the world where you can go and cool off, and even freeze over if that’s your cup of tea. In fact, some of these places have no population at all, so you could start your own society (if you can last the subzero climates). Think of it as a new Jamestown, except instead of cultivating tobacco, the cash crop would be… popsicles. Here are your potential future homes, starting with the “warmest”:

5.) Prospect Creek, Alaska – Lowest Temperature: -80°F (-62°C)

Population: You

Prospect Creek, Alaska holds the record the coldest place in the United States. It was used as a base camp for workers building the Alaskan pipeline in the 1970s. Today, it is home to cold-loving killing machines like bears and wolves. In order to get there, though, you have to take a dog sled team there. But awaiting you would be a world of riches. What riches you ask? Tungsten (metal), quartz, and bismuth (used in makeup and medicines). Move quickly, oh wait, you can’t; you don’t own a dog sled team.

4.) Snag, Yukon – Lowest Temperature: -81.4°F (-63°C)

He's not even in Snag yet

Snag is located in the Yukon Territory in Canada. It holds the distinction of being the coldest place in the North American continent. As you can tell from the photo above, it’s a little chilly out there. The reason why it’s cold is because mountains block warm refreshing air from the Pacific Ocean, and then the cold air from the mountains finds its way down to Snag. Don’t worry, there are plenty of things to do there. You can trade fur with one of the 10 native neighbors you might have if they are still there from 1947. You can also go outside and hear the voices of people from miles away. Feeling the heat yet?

3.) Verkhoyansk, Russia – Lowest Temperature: -93.6°F (-69.8°C)

Verkhoyansk, Russia is a cold, cold place. The small town has a population of around 1400 inhabitants. Meet your neighbors: They subsist on reindeer meat. Yes, I said reindeer. The residents of Verkhoyansk eat Santa’s little helpers. Not convinced yet to move? Your potential neighbors could also be political exiles, as Stalin had everyone who opposed him banished to this quaint little town. Bring your coat, as the average temperature in January is -50°F. You read that right, average.

2.) Oymyakon, Russia – Lowest Temperature: -96.2°F (-71.2°C)

This small town has a population of less than 1000 people. It has the honored title of being the coldest inhabited place in the world. Apparently, it is so cold in Oymyakon that birds freeze in mid-flight. Not sure about the education system at your potential new home? Well glad you asked. Schools don’t close unless it is less than -52°C outside. You won’t have to worry about Wal*Mart either, as there is only one general store in the town, and it’s not a Wal*Mart. As a side note, the summer is hot, really hot at over 100°F at times. However, isn’t that the reason you wanted to get away in the first place?

1.) Vostok, Antarctica – Lowest Temperature: -128.6°F (-89.2°C)

If none of the above places tickle your arctic pickle, then come here: The coldest place on Earth. The Vostok station is located in Antarctica. Yeah, Antarctica. The highest temperature ever recorded here was 10°F. Bust out your swimsuit. Vostok also has great air quality, if by great, you mean nonexistent. You wouldn’t have to use a fan either, as winds can reach as high as 60 mph. You also don’t have to worry about silly things like the sun, as darkness lasts from April to the end of August. Ready to start a new civilization of snow worshippers?
