Ah weddings. The day most women look forward to while they are growing up, and sometimes considered “D-Day” for men. It’s not all bad though, as sometimes couples like to show their personalities in the ceremony, reception, and the CAKE! 9 Coolest Commercial Mascots

Whether or not we like it, mascots are here to stay, no matter how stupid or creepy they may be. However, there are actually some cool ones out there. I admit, I had a tough time narrowing down the list to just 9. Here are three that didn’t make the cut, and then the list starts with number 9…

9.) Tony the Tiger

Why he’s cool:
Tony is such a happy-go-lucky guy, how can he not be cool? Tigers as a whole are cool animals. Tigers that eat cereal are even cooler. Besides, if Tony the Tiger wear a freakin’ ascot that has his own name on it. If that doesn’t scream cool, then what does?

8.) Cool Spot

Why he’s cool:
This late 1980′s mascot for 7 Up just oozes cool. Cool is in his own name! Mr. Spot even had two video games created that starred him. The first game even won an award! Cool Spot seems like that guy at the pool or beach that attracts all the hot girls in bikinis and sips on pina coladas. It’s a shame that he isn’t seen much anymore.

7.) Energizer Bunny

So cool that he has a float!

Why he’s cool:
The Energizer Bunny is not your typical band geek. He’s more of the silent type, which adds to his mystique. The Energizer Bunny is also pink, and not many creatures can pull off pink successfully. EB also has his own introduction theme from his beating drums. You know when he’s coming. How often do you get to have your own introduction theme when entering a room? True sign of cool.

6.) Cap’n Crunch

Wouldn't you want this guy to be your father?

Why he’s cool:
There’s two main reasons why Cap’n Crunch is cool. First, if you were sailing on a boat, who better to be the captain of your boat than Cap’n Freaking Crunch?! It’s such a great name and I believe that on every boat, it should be made mandatory that an officer is named Crunch. The second reason why he is cool is the fact that you wouldn’t mind him being your dad. Just imagine all the family photos! You would never have to worry about what’s for breakfast in the Crunch household either.

5.) Taco Bell Chihuahua

Why she’s cool:
Perhaps one of the most beloved fast food icons in recent memory, the Taco Bell Chihuahua radiated cool. The dog, named Gidget, did something not many chihuahuas could do – look important. Just ask anyone who was around during that time and ask them to tell you one thing about Taco Bell. Chances are, they will answer about the dog.

4.) M&M’s – Red and Yellow

Why they’re cool:
These two candies are the perfect compliments to each other. Yellow is always a happy guy while Red is more cynical of things, like Santa. What about them makes them cool? Their conversations with each other, of course. Whenever you get one cynic and one gullible personality together in the same room, hilarity ensues. And as everyone knows, humor is cool.

3.) Toucan Sam

Why he’s cool:
Toucan Sam is probably my favorite mascot out of everyone on this list. Like tigers, toucans are cool animals. They are full of color and vibrance. He’s well-liked by many; it’d be hard-pressed to find someone who doesn’t like Toucan Sam. Every time you hear the word “toucan,” you’ll undoubtedly think of Toucan Sam. It’s ingrained in our nature. That’s what makes this bird so damn cool.

2.) GEICO Gecko

Why he’s cool:
Geckos are awesome. British accents are awesome. Geckos that speak in British accents are even more awesome.

1.) Dos Equis Man (The Most Interesting Man in the World)

He lives vicariously...through himself!

Why he’s cool:
Whenever someone lives vicariously through themselves, they are cool. Whenever someone’s own mother has a “Son” tattoo, they are cool. Whenever sharks have a week dedicated to someone, they are cool. This is the guy you want to hang out with. You’ll be able to touch art at museums, and be able to see his business card that says “I’ll Call You.” Who wouldn’t want to hang out with this guy?

7 Unluckiest People In The World

Every once in a while, Lady Luck will come grace us with her presence, whether it be finding a dollar bill on the floor or finding that missing sock. Unfortunately, for these 7 people, luck was not one their side.

1.) Ann Hodges

Why she’s unlucky: The only person ever to be hit by a meteorite
You know you’re really unlucky when you’re the only person in history to get hit by a meteorite. While taking a nap on her couch November 30, 1954, a meteorite crashed through the roof of her house and injured her on the hip. It was the size of a grapefruit. While she was getting public offers of up to $5,000 for the meteorite, the U.S. Airforce immediately came and took the fallen object. However, her husband sued the government and eventually won it back after another fight with the landlord, who wanted it to help pay for the damages caused by the crash landing. After winning the “lucky” rock, no one cared about it anymore and the meteorite was donated to the Alabama Museum of Natural History.

2.) Henry Ziegland

Why he’s unlucky: Killed by a bullet that was lodged in tree for 20 years
Okay, so meteorites are not your thing and it’s just a crazy coincidence with Ann Hodges, right? Well, try this story. In 1883, Henry Ziegland broke up with his girlfriend. She was so upset about it that she committed suicide. Her brother, enraged about her death and blaming Ziegland for it, did the most reasonable and rational thing he could – he went to kill Ziegland. The brother shot Ziegland and then took his own life. Unfortunately for the brother, the bullet went past Ziegland and ended up lodged in a tree. Lucky, right? Not for Henry. 20 years later, Henry wanted to remove the tree, and since he wasn’t able to do it himself, he used some dynamite. You see where this is going. The explosion caused the bullet in the tree to fly right to Ziegland’s head, killing him instantly.

3.) Violet Jessop

Why she’s unlucky: On board three sinking ships
Violet Jessop was on board when three ships sank. Not just any ships though. Her first ship was the Olympic in 1911. The ship crashed into a British warship. Jessop’s next stop was a ship you may have heard of – the Titanic. She managed to survive the fateful maiden voyage of the Titanic and moved on to its sister ship, the Britanic. That ship hit a mine and sank off the coast of Greece. Violet Jessop survived all three without a scratch.

4.) Roy Sullivan

Why he’s unlucky: Struck by lightning 7 times
Roy Sullivan was a park ranger in Virginia that was struck by lightning 7 times between 1942 and 1977. He survived each strike. After a few strikes, Sullivan started carrying a bucket of water around with him to prevent the lightning from following him. Ironically enough, his wife also was struck one time. The chances of being struck by lightning seven times? 22,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 (septillion) to one.

5.) Robert Todd Lincoln

Why he’s unlucky: Present/Nearby for three presidential assassinations
Robert Todd Lincoln was the son of President Abraham Lincoln. When Robert was 21, his father was infamously assassinated by John Wilkes Booth in 1865. While Robert was not at Ford’s Theatre, he was staying at the White House nearby. 16 years later, while serving as President Garfield’s Secretary of War, he was witness to Garfield being gunned down before they were able to get on a train to New Jersey together. Now, you would think Lincoln would become a hermit at this point and avoid anything presidential. But in 1901, President McKinley invited Lincoln to the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. Lincoln was not an eyewitness to this assassination, but he certainly was close enough to hear the bullets. Lincoln never attended a presidential function again, except for the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial in 1922.

6.) Jason and Jenny Cairns-Lawrence

Why they are unlucky: Tourists during three terrorist attacks
If this couple is coming to a city near you, it might be wise to leave. The couple was in New York during the terrorist attacks of September 11th. Okay, a lot of people were in New York that day, so what? Well, the couple then was visiting London in 2005 when the underground bombings took place on July 7, the worst terrorist attack in their history. Their vacationing wasn’t done. In 2008, they visited Mumbai. There, they witnessed the worst terrorist attack in India’s history.

7.) Tsutomu Yamaguchi

Why he’s unlucky: He was in Hiroshima AND Nagaski during each bombing
This may be the worst luck of all (or best luck, depending on your point of view). In history, there has been only two cities that have been destroyed by an atomic bomb. Tsutomu Yamaguchi was in both of those cities and lived to tell about it. He was on business in Hiroshima on August 6, 1945 when Hiroshima was attacked. Yamaguchi was blinded temporarily and his eardrums were ruptured. Obviously, Hiroshima was not the place to conduct business so Yamaguchi went back home – to Nagasaki. After just three days, Yamaguchi went back to work. While he was in the process of describing the explosion of Hiroshima to his boss, Nagasaki was attacked. Each time, he was 3 km away from ground zero. Yamaguchi survived both attacks and lived to be 93 years old and died of stomach cancer in 2010. Worst luck of all, or luckiest man alive?
