5 Do’s and Don’ts of Trick-or-Treating

Halloween is just a few days away. Many people will roam their neighborhoods trick-or-treating, grabbing candy, and visiting the old guy down the street’s house because he decorated it with a lot of lights and animatronics. Along the way, there are some things people should remember about trick-or-treating. Here are the Do’s and Don’ts of trick-or-treating:

Do

Bring the biggest bag you can find to store your candy in it. In fact, bring a cardboard box. You might get more candy because people might think you are homeless.

Don’t

Try to bring any candy “inbox” on wheels (i.e. a wagon or shopping cart). It makes you look like you are on the Oregon Trail, especially if your costume is a nun, rancher, or cowboy. Unless that’s the look you’re going for, of course.

Do

Scare young children, teenagers, and adults. Pop out of bushes and hide around corners if you must.

Don’t

Scare elderly people, babies, or elderly people with babies.

Do

Decorate your house in nice lights, appropriate Halloween decor, and maybe a pumpkin or two.

Don’t

Decorate your house in fog that makes traversing to the front door nearly impossible until you realize that your at the front door already because you walked into it.

Do

Carve a pumpkin with a scary face to put outside your door to entertain your potential trick-or-treaters.

Don’t

Carve a pumpkin that has an unrecognizable face or a face only a mother could love.

Do

Give out delicious candy, chocolates, candy corn (is it candy?) and even dollar bills.

Don’t

Give out pennies, nickels, dimes, syringes, sticks of gum, or candy with opened wrappers.
